Auto Insurance Claims: release of all claims, claims advice, claim help

Question
The insurance company offered me a 1000 to release a claim in a bodily injury claim, the release claim that was sent was for 10 thousand dollars. I refuse the 1000 dollar offer and after reading the release claim for 10 thousand I sign the release. The adjuster  wrote back that the corrected  1000 release need to be signed and return. What should I do? I have a copy of the release that was signed for ten thousand and I have not signed the 1000.

Answer
Hello Janice,

The insurance company is making ignorant mistakes, but, release or not, they are not going to pay you the $10,000.

$1000 for a bodily injury claim?  Unless there are very minor injuries for which you received no medical attention, will not need medical attention in the future, and for which you will have no lasting injuries $1000 is probably a lowball offer.  If you think the $1000 payoff is fair, sign the release.  Just remember, once you do, you cannot collect anything further regardless of whether or not you need future related medical attention.

Hope this helps.
