Auto Insurance Claims: side swipe, left a note, accident

Question
Earlier this week, I was making a left into a parking space and I ended up scraping my front right bumper against the back left bumper of the parked car to the right of me.  I left a note with my contact number on the windshield and secured it underneath both of the windshield wipers because the owner wasn't there.  I came back two hours after it happened and they still weren't there.  They haven't called me and it's been four days.  Should I still be worrying about this?  I wanted to contact my  insurance company, but I wanted to hear from the owner of the other car first.  I'm afraid that things will turn around and their not answering will result into something unexpected.  What should I do?

Answer
You did the right thing.  If they do not present a claim, then no problem.  If they present a claim, whenever they do, just make sure you have some evidence that you left a note and own up to it.  You shouldn't worry.  The evidence will speak for itself.  If the other party attempts to make more of the situation than is reality, you may need to be able to prove the extent of damages.  I would contact my carrier and advise them of the incident so as to make it harder for the other party to exaggerate the damages.  If you are able to locate the other party, photograph the damages.

I hope this helps!
