Auto Insurance Claims: Motorcycle Insurance, accident and insurance rates

Question
I was recently involved in a minor motorcycle accident. There were no other cars involved and I have liability insurance. If I do not report the accident to my insurance will my rate still increase?

Answer
Ian, I doubt it.  Was there a police report?  If there was no police report, then there is no way for the insurance company to find out that you may be a potentially higher risk.  If there was a police report, I still doubt it will affect your rates.  Motorcycles generally are a very low liability risk.  They don't have enough mass to create a lot of physical damages to property.  The main party at risk on a motorcycle is the operator.  You should be fine on your rates if you don't report the loss to your carrier.
