Auto Insurance Claims: Response to Demand Letter, letter 6, insurance company

Question
How long should it take before my lawyer gets a response to my Demand Letter.  6 figure settlement could be a policy limits issue. What is a reasonable amount of time to wait?

Answer
Hi Vanessa,

Generally, when an attorney sends a demand letter, they will usually include a time limit for the expected response. In most cases though, if the claim is substantially more than the policy limits and their are no issues regarding the legitimacy of the claim, the insurance company will usually respond quickly say within 30 days. However, if the insurance company does not feel the injuries or the amount demanded are justified, they may reply with a lower settlement offer. Then it could take several months of back and forth negotiation between your attorney and the insurance company before an amount is agreed to.

You should keep in contact with your attorney with any questions you may have. They will be most knowledgeable about you specific claim and best equipped to answer any questions.

I hope this helps
