Auto Insurance Claims: motorcycle accident, motorcycle shop, motorcycle accident

Hello,
I had just left my house and not but a half a mile down the road and  a dog crosses right in front of and I laid my bike down. I didnt hit anyone and no one was around. I called a motorcycle shop and they pick up my bike and took it back there shop. the mechanic was telling me I need to call my insurance company and file a claim. Can i still file a claim even though i moved the bike and didnt call the police? i didnt call the police because i didnt hit anyone. will my insurance cover the bike without a police report?

Hello,

Depending on your policy, you probably would not have to file a police report to have the claim honored as long as no one else was injured. This repair would come under collision coverage. Report it to the company. Tell them what happened and it shouldn't be a big deal. The main point is as long as their were no injuries or property damage (other than your bike),
