Auto Insurance Claims: hit by a car in pedestrian walkway, hit by a car in pedestrian walkway

Question
I was hit by a car outside my house in a pedestrian walkway. i did not see the car and was knocked off my feet into the air. the driver stopped and got out and asked if I was alright. I was able to get up. When I asked for his ID/information he got back in his car and sped away. i got his license plate and a witness. I am suffering bad back and neck pain and other cuts and bruises. I found a personal injury lawyer who has sent me to their chiropractor. The chiropractor sessions have been very helpful indeed. They want me to see a neurologist even though no damage to my head - also suggested an MRI. I feel these measures may be unnecessary expenses. Although I am in pain and my range of motion, performance at work, sleep and regular physical way of being are all suffering. They have located the driver and are in contact with his insurer. Do you think i should go ahead with potential expensive treatments at the advice of the chiropractor referred by my lawyer? All sides say this is a 'NO fault' case,  but I am worried i may end up with big medical bills and i do not own a vehicle or have health insurance of any kind. Accident took place in NYC and I had the right of way. Thank you so much.

Answer
Hello Jan,

WEll, what is your worry, the medical bills or the fact that you do not need this medical treatment?

If you feel that you do need the treatment, you need to be seen by doctors to determine the extend of the injury. If you think you do not need this as you are okay, talk to your lawyer and chiropractor and explain that to them. THey should be able to guide you correctly.

I hope this helps
Anne
