Auto Insurance Claims: Liability involving two cars under same policy, collision coverage, two cars

Question
My 22 year old daughter backed into my car this morning, causing very significant damage to both vehicles. Both cars are insured under the same policy (21st Century) but my understanding is, this would not be covered under my policy.
I was hoping for an independent opinion before I decide what to do.

Answer
Hi David,

This would only be covered if you have collision coverage on both vehicles. Each claim would incure a deductible. The reason for this is that since both car are insured on the same policy they are both considered to be yours and that basically you backed into yourself. The liability portion of your policy will not pay because you can not be considered to be liable to yourself.

I hope this helps
