Auto Insurance Claims: car accident, property damage liability, liability limit

Question
I hit a light pole on the side of the road and it feel over and hit another truck the damage didn't total it.  I have full coverage on my vehicle and have had the same insurance for 8 yrs. with no tickets or accidents my question is am i going to have to pay for the pole and any damages on the other vehicle or my own for that matter or will my insurance cover?

Answer
Hi Pam,

Your insurance will cover the damage up to the limit of your coverage. So if your property damage liability limit of coverage is $10,000.00 but the total of the damage is $20,000.00 then your insurance company will pay $10,000.00 and you will have to pay the other $10,000.00. But if you have coverage of say $50,000.00 and the total of the damage is $20,000.00 then your insurance policy will pay the entire amount.

You should stay in contact with your insurance company to ask if you have enough coverage to cover all of the damage.

I hope this helps
