Auto Insurance Claims: Auto Accident minor damage major medical issue, auto accident injury claim

Question
Hello

A friend of mine was in an auto accident, rear ended by a trucker.  She was the driver and the car had only $100 in damage (a nick on the bumper) but but she has had major medical problems and has incurred almost $20,000 in medical bills.

The insurance company keeps saying there was virtually no damage to the car.

Is the insurance companies point valid, will that impact her settlement?

I think she's crazy thinking she will get some huge settlement when there was no damage to the car.

Answer
Cathy,

Well considering the minor damage, your friend will probably not prevail on her own. She should get an accident attorney to take her through the right steps. For example, she would need to show what speed she was impacted at and she would have to get a doctor who would confirm that such an impact could have caused or aggravated her health problems.
