Auto Insurance Claims: Accident with an object, car insurance companies, auto coverage

Question
Yesterday i was involved in  an accident not physically involves per say. my left rear wheel went off the while motion and wheel itself hit a stationary parked car outside the road. The front side and windscreen broken. The owner has taken the matter to his insurance for damages.I dont have the insurance, so i would like to know how much involvement am i in this case in terms of costs and payments.

Answer
Well if you hit a parked car you're probably responsible for the accident.  Since you don't have insurance that means that you're probably personally responsible.  So the other car's insurance company could go after you for the repair costs that they were forced to pay to their insured.  However, even though you're probably responsible for the damages to the other car, insurance companies frequently won't go after an individual without insurance coverage if the damages are slight.

There's no way to tell if they'll try to get you to pay - you'll just have to wait and see if they contact you.

In most states it's not only personally risky to operate a car without insurance - it's also illegal - so you should try and get auto coverage as soon as possible.

Good luck,
