Do the major insurers pay to fix a damaged vehicle for a single car accident where the driver was guilty of dui?  If they don't pay, should it still be reported to the insurance company or is it better just to fix the car yourself?

Yes, they will pay.  The DUI does not impact the claim.

It will have a huge impact on premiums.  They will probably find out even if you do not report the claim, so I would make the claim if it is for more than a few hundred dollars.  Most run driving checks periodically.  There is a chance they might not find out for a while if you are lucky.
