Auto Insurance Claims: injuries that show up later, private physicians, medical bills

Question
I was involved in a accident where I was rammed into a semi by another service truck, rammed by another semi. My car was totaled.I walked away with my 18month daughter. We have had exams by our private physicians, and show only brusing and minor cuts. Are we entitled to any compensation outside of our immediate expenses? And what if symptoms show up later on that were caused by this collision?

Answer
Hi Wendy,

If there were no significant injuries then your settlement will be very small. I would say that if you can each get $500.00 to $1,000.00 in addition to your actual medical bills you would be doing well.

Once you agree on a settlement amount, the insurance company will require that you sign a full release form in exchange for the payment. If you are concerned about other issues comming up later on then you should not settle at this time, but wait a few months to be sure there will not be any other issues.

I hope this helps
