Auto Insurance Claims: Auto Insurance Claim, auto insurance claim, uninsured motorist coverage

Question
My car was recently hit my an uninsured motorist. I'm almost
9 months pregnant and in two months my unemployment will run out
and hopefully I can get an extension. I had a 05" Toyota  and only
owed 2,999 left on the vehicle. I looked up my coverage online
with my insurance carrier and only had 10,000 for insured-motorist
property damage and a 1,000 deductible. I want to break even and get a car similar to the one I lost and I need all the money I can get. I hate to be penalized for someone else negligence.
The car was in excellent condition and just recently put new front brakes in but it did need a belt but with excellent mileage and condition. That's 325 dollars I just spent on a car that is now a total loss. My question is I change my uninsured motorist
property damage to 15,000 to reflect more of the value of my car
sans deductible, and what I still owed on my car loan.
Will the insurance agency honor the new coverage dollar amount
or the previous one I was under when I first made the claim ?

Answer
If I understand your question correctly, you are seeking to increase the coverage on underinsured/uninsured motorist coverage for property damage, but want to buy coverage after the date of the accident? If this is what you are asking, then no, you can't buy coverage to cover a loss in the past. The only effect an increase in coverage you purchase will have is future losses.
