Auto Insurance Claims: covered or not?, auto insurance policies, risk driver

Question
Hi, I live in Florida and sold my car a while ago and have no insurance now. I do have a Florida license and have been driving my girlfriends car which has full coverage. I have not been added to her policy because I have many points on my license and would prove to be too costly. If I were to get into an accident, would the car be covered? Thanks, John

Answer
Hi John,

If you live with your girl friend or if the vehicle is made available for your regular use, there would be no coverage if you were involved in a collision.

Auto insurance policies require that everyone living in a household or having regular access to the vehicle be disclosed to the insurance company. They will then rate the policy based on the highest risk driver in the household. It may cost you more to get covered, but, it will be less expensive than having to pay an entire claim out of your pocket.

I hope this helps
