Auto Insurance Claims: My parked car was Backed into, own insurance, collision coverage

Question
My parked car was backed into , on private property.  The woman admited fault of course and contacted her insurance.   Now they are dragging it out ; to fix my car
adjuster says it will not be a problem getting my car fixed
and says the hold up is talking to the policy holder
my concern is my car is a 1991 model with only 48000 original miles   I want the car fixed  as it is still like a new car .  How long of a time frame should I allow before seeking legal representation?

Answer
You have the option of reporting the claim to your own insurance company, which will eliminate the delays the liability carrier is having with their discussions with their policyholder. This is assuming, of course, that you carry collision coverage on your car. If not, you will have to deal with the other party's insurer. The burden of the time they are taking to repair your car shouldn't be a problem, as you are entitled to a rental car for as long as it takes and they must pay the cost.

To my knowledge, there is no time limit to getting the repairs completed, particularly if you have a rental during the process. A lawyer may only add to your expenses, which may not be recoverable. How long have they had your car in the shop and how much do they estimate the repairs will cost?
