Auto Insurance Claims: QUESTION HOME INS., owners insurance company, home owners insurance

Question
Bennie

Hi, is there anyway to find out what someone else has for a
home owners insurance company. Also Is there a government agency that governs insurance companies. I have a neighbor
that rides motorized vehicles and has horses on his property, one of these days someone will get hurt. How do I find out what home owners insurance he has, I'm certain he
does not have insurance to cover what he does

thanks

Answer
Hi Ken,
Every state functions under and is controlled by the insurance laws of
that state.  For this reason, you will find that the laws between states fluctuate from moderate to major.

There is no central state or federal agency that maintains a list of which company a person carries insurance with, or if that person carries insurance at all.  Most states do have have laws that force a person to show proof of insurance 'after the fact', and of course proof would be demanded by any involved attorney.

True, many people do not carry insurance, but they can't be dealt with until after a loss occurs except in the states that require a person to carry proof of auto insurance in their car there are fines if they are stopped and found to have no proof.

I hope that you find this information to be of help.  Your feedback by rating my response will be appreciated.

Sincerely,
