Auto Insurance Claims: auto insurance, minimal damage, insurance company

Question
I drive a friend's car in MA occasionally and dented a car today.  Will she be liable?  I'm insured through progressive in AZ and I pay her insurance although the car is registered to her. There was minimal damage and no injuries.

Answer
Hi Suzanne,

Auto insurance follows the vehicle and not the driver. So it would be your friends insurance that would pay for the damage that you caused while driving her car. Be careful when talking to her insurance company. If they find out that the vehicle is available for your regular use and you are not listed on the policy, they may deny the claim.

I hope this helps
