Auto Insurance Claims: accident, dollar damages, utility trailers

Question
traveling down highway pulling a trailer with 2 yards of gravel when someone ran a stop sign and totaled our utility trailer. should there insurance cover it. ours is state farm.

Answer
Hi Kim,
When you are towing the utility trailer your State Farm policy provides you with free liability insurance but you would have to be also carrying comprehensive and collision to expect them to provide payment for your damage and then subrogate against the adverse driver and his company for reimbursement of your deductible and the amount that they paid.
Most utility trailers don't have a value large enough to make it worthwhile for you to carry comprehensive and collision.
You need to make an accident report to State Farm and then file against the adverse driver/company for your dollar damages.
I hope that you find this information to be of help.  Please send me any follow up questions that might arise.  Your feedback by rating my response to this question will be appreciated.
