Auto Insurance Claims: insurance settlement, better business bureau, parethesias

Question
I was in a car accident in mid August, with the other person being 100% at fault.  I have accumulated $10,000 dollars worth of medical bills.  This accident aggrevated a pre existing condition but the surgeon has put the apportionment at 90% (accident caused 90% of my injuries).
I am a homemaker but have read that even as a homemaker you should still recieve loss wages, is this true?  Because the surgery was on my dominent hand I was unable to do any normal work for 6 weeks and then about 50% for the next 4 weeks.  I also have a letter from the doctor stating that this is nothing more they can do medically at this time but i will most likely need treatment in the future and that i deal with a significant amount of parethesias and numbenss in both arms.  So I am wondering with this letter and knowing I will most likely incure future medical bills  what type of settlement should i expect?

Answer
Hi Sandy,

Lost wages are for just that, provable lost wages. If you incurred additional expenses, such as, you had to hire someone to do your normal house work, shopping, etc. then you would be able to claim those actual expenses. However, due to the additional starin this puts on you and your family it would create a higher pain and suffering.

Without seeing your actual medical reports its hard to put a value on your claim. You should visit www.collisionwizard.com which is a website produced by the Better Business Bureau Video Series. It only costs $19.99 to register to use the site. It will allow you to enter all of the information regarding your accident, injuries, treatment, medical expenses, etc. It will help you prepare a demand package and will also provide a high and low range of the value of your claim.

If at any point you feel the insurance company is not treating you fairly, you should seek the advice of an attorney.

I hope this helps
