Auto Insurance Claims: hit and run, change recorded statement

Question
QUESTION: i,was at fault in a hit and run accident that damaged a pole, and my car, what will the insurance pay for?

ANSWER: If you have liability coverage and there are no exclusions for leaving the scene (most likely there is not) in your policy. Also, if you were using this vehicle with permission (either it is your own auto or you borrow it). If this not your car and you borrow it, your insurance company will have to do an investigation before determining coverage.

There is not enough information to give you a straight answers, but most likely yes.

QUESTION: i,had orginally told the insurance company that the car was stolen, later recanted this statement

Answer
This might very well deny you coverage all together. Insurance companies can construe this as misrepresentation, a straight exclusion.

Some insurance companies will treat this as a "good change of heart" and might cover you, but you are definitely in a difficult spot. So to answer, what will they pay for? Maybe nothing.
