Auto Insurance Claims: NYS NO Fault claim, assignment of benefits, claims adjuster

Question
I was in an accident in 2004 and just recently found out there was a mri that was never paid for.  Now it has gone on my credit report.  What do I do.  My ins. agent said that no body will call her back about it, and it seems as if the letter I found they stated a submitted  signed assignment of benefits to the company was mailed, where the bill came from, and that the place who sent it to collections.  The insurance company either didn't do what they were suppose to or the company that took my MRI didn't resubmit something.  But i am mad that after 4yrs I just found out this, and that I have a debt on my report for 7 YEARS!!!! Please help my

Answer
Hi Paula,

You need to call your insurance company's claims department directly. Do not call your agent. Only the claims adjuster can assist you. You will need to get a copy of the actual bill. Then you need to send it to the claims adjuster with a letter demanding that they pay the bill. If it was an oversite on their part, it should be taken care of or they should provide you a written explanation why they are not going to pay it.

I hope this helps
