Auto Insurance Claims: Claim period, claim period, good reason

How long do i have to file a claim?  I slid in my driveway 2 months ago and hit my grnadfathers truck and my hood is all messed up.  Can i still file a claim and get it fixed??  So my question is basically how long do i have to file a claim???

Hi Fred,

It totally depends on your carrier and their protocol.

I have filed claims three months after an event and my company was willing to cover.

I would recommend filing the claim and give them a good reason why it took so long, and there shouldn't be a problem.

Just remember though, the longer you wait from right now, the longer it will be before you get your vehicle fixed.
