Auto Insurance Claims: Auto Insurance Claim, auto insurance claim, liability claim

Question
My son was recently involved in an accident where he ran into the back of a school bus.  There didn't appear to be any damage to the bus and the driver told us that he and all the kids were not injured.  My son's car is old and we didn't carry collision on it so we won't be able to claim for any of our damages.  Given these facts, is there any reason to even notify my insurance company.  My concern is that if sometime in the future one of the kids on the bus (or their parents) decides they were hurt, my insurance company might not honor a liability claim if we hadn't notified them immediately.  We are in Maryland in case there is anything state specific about it.

Answer
Hi John,

If a police report was made or you exchanged information with the bus driver then you should notify your insurance company. If there was no police report and no information was exchanged between you and the driver of the bus then there is no need.

I hope this helps
