Auto Insurance Claims: how long till i get a check from ins co., double edge sword, vehicle fires

Question
My cars were burned 2 months ago,I am covered for arson,i have to take a polygraph test next week "standard procedure?",How long does the ins company have to settle this with me? is there a limit?

Answer
Well Dan,

Depending on the state and the insurance company, when the claim is under investigation like your claim, there is generally no limit of time.

Poloygraph is kind of funny. If it supports the insurance company's theory that you burned the car or had it burned, it will be used for evidence against you. If the polygraph does not implicate you, then it is inadmissable.
Kind of a double edge sword there.

There is nothing you can do to rush them. In fact, the more you talk to them, the deeper they try to push your involvement in the fire.

Here is how it is though. Who cares if the fire was intentionally set? If they can't link you to it, they are looking at putting you with the fire somehow so they don't have to pay the claim.

Until they deny you, there is nothing you can do.

When they deny you, you hire an attorney and then you hire me.

From my personal experience, I have found many fire investigtors that are great on structure fires, but just guess on vehicle fires.

This is not saying there are not good vehicle fire investigators, there are some. It all depends on who looked at your burned cars.
