Auto Insurance Claims: i have no insurance!!!!!!!!!!, accepting responsibility, auto accident

Question
i was in a car accident today at about 3:00 pm.  i was driving down the hwy and there was a woman driving a newer model car in front of me, i glanced over to at the intersecting road to make sure that no one was runnig the stopsign, and when i looked foward again she had slammed on her breaks and was almost stopped! i wasnt going very fast, mabey 45 mph, and there were 3 carlingths between us before she had slowed.  i hit my brakes but couldnt stop in time. i rear ended her and totaled my car and caused major damage to the rear end of her car. when i asked her if they were alright she told me they were fine. they were taken to the hospital via ambulance.  i had hit my head and needed stitches and had my mom take me to the er.
i had an insurance card that said i was covered untill march but i found out my parents took me off their polocy and i was no longer covered.  i am not sure what i should do? if i get insured right away will i be covered?
or am i going to have to pay for everything from my empty pockets? please let me know as soon as possible!!!
thanks for your help,
Pat

Answer
Dang Patrick.
There is no way that I can sugar coat this one.

Any attempt at getting insurance after the fact is referred to as felony insurance fraud. I'm going to assume that you won't be trying that unless you like sharing a shower for several years with other people of the same gender who are craving intimacy in a rough kind of way.

I'm sure that if your parents removed you from their insurance, they would have notified you of this, however that really does not matter.

The owner of the vehicle that your were driving has majority responsibility for the damage that you caused.  The first thing that you need to do is to stop trying to minimize the result of your actions.  If you ended up with stitches, your car was totaled and the other party's car has serious damage, then stop making statements like "I wasn't going very fast".  You have absolutely no defense here. Hitting another vehicle from behind and causing serious damage has little defense.  The majority of professional truck drivers manage to make it through their careers driving vehicles that weigh 10 times as much as an automobile while somehow avoiding a rear end collision.  Making statements like that to a judge with any common sense is only going to make them mad.

Hopefully, the other party carries Uninsured Motorist coverage and they can get their damages paid for.  At this point, shouldn't you be most worried about the person that you ran into and not your own empty pockets?

If your pockets are indeed empty then you will likely end up with someone chasing you for a court judgment that you cannot pay.

Good luck.
