Auto Insurance Claims: auto theft, auto theft claim, insurance claim

Question
My car was stolen about 3 weeks ago.  I have fully cooperated with the insurance adjuster and have given him everything he has requested.  He recently sent my keys, which I willing turned over both sets that I had, to a forensic locksmith who stated that my car had a transponder on it.  I am current with all payments, including the one that is due this month, and I had just spent over 100 dollars on it the week before it was stolen.  I loved my car and would really like it back.  The problem I am having is that I turned over my cell phone records and canceled checks and receipts as the adjuster requested, but now he wants my mother and I to sign a paper consenting to searching basically everything about us.  I could understand myself with the credit check etc., but my mother will not sign anything.  The policy and my cell phone is in her name but I paid the insurance and it was my car.  I understand that they are just doing their job, but I have been nothing but cooperative and I have to draw the line at them looking through my mom's background and personal text messages between me and my family members.  There are some things going on that could potentially ruin a few marriages and I will not agree to that.  What are my rights when it comes to this??  Do I have a right to cancel the claim if they insist on looking into my mother's background??  Thank you

Answer
Rights?
Your rights along with your responsibilities are listed in the policy that you signed, agreed to and apparently purchased.

The investigator is likely entitled to request this information and if you refuse to provide it, they cannot fully investigate the claim which means no settlement.  The investigator is only looking for information about the car theft and will not care a bit about your personal issues.

You may withdraw the claim at any time.
