Auto Insurance Claims: auto theft (stereo), sub woofer box, policy language

Question
my stereo was stolen out of my truck, the insurance company will cut me a check for the equipment taken, but how about the labor to put them back in?
There was alot of labor including the construction of a subwoofer box etc.
Are they by law required to pay for labor and taxes on the equipment?
Like they paid for my window to be replaced, they paid for the part and the labor to get put back in.
How about my stereo?

thanks

Answer
Dimitris,

It depends on the language of the policy you have with your insurance company. If you sent them an invoice for the "total damages" including installation, building the sub woofer box, etc.. and they say they are only paying for the stereo itself, tell them to provide you a letter citing the exact policy language they rely on for not paying the other damages sustained as a result of the theft.

If they refuse or if they cite the language and you believe the policy language does not support their position, you may want to consult an attorney. In many states, such as Florida where I practice, the insurance company will have to pay your attorney's fees if they lose.

Best of Luck.
