how long does it take for insurance company to process claim to fix my car if there insurer was at fault...he hit me from behind . Accident happened about a week ago

The time frame varies. Within the week you are speaking of, they should send someone out to prepare an estimate on the vehicle or direct you to a body shop they authorize for the repairs. You may be able to claim loss of use on the vehicle (even if it's still operable and you don't get a rental car) depending on the laws of your state.

The repairs will take additional time usually beyond the control of the insurer. However, again, you may be entitled to loss of use and using this claim may speed things up.
