Auto Insurance Claims: insurance claims, licensed drivers, insurance company

Question
I am 19 years and have just bought a car. It was required for me to obtain comprehensive coverage. The car is titled in my name; however, the policy holder is my mother. I just had an accident. Will it be covered by the insurance?

Answer
Hi Steven,

As long as you were listed on the policy as a driver, then the claim will be paid. If you are not listed on the policy and you live with your mother, the insurance company will likely cancell the policy back to when it was taken out and refund the premium paid and deny the claim. This is because it is required to list all licensed drivers living in the household.

I hope this helps
