Auto Insurance Claims: time frame, payment request, medical forms

Question
I was hurt when someone rear ended me. I sent the medical forms and pay infomation for my missed days at work by filing a claim with the other person ins. company. How long can they take to resolve my claim? Are they also required to send me a letter that they received my claim and what my right are ?

Answer
Tasha,

The laws of each state are different. In Florida, where I currently practice, they need pay lost wages ever two weeks upon receipt or the wage claim and medical bills within 30 days of receipt of the charges. They are required to provide a written response to the payment request advising what is being paid, what is not being paid and why.

If your bills are not being properly paid, you may want to contact an attorney or send them another letter certified receipt so you can document the contacts.
