Auto Insurance Claims: low policy limit - must i keep the attorney, uim coverage, taxi driver

Question
pretrial date fast approaching.  remember driver of car not the owner.  Owner policy limit is low.  my um/uim coverage each 50/100.  best move forward is to release the attorney for services rendered and settle with my insurance co directly?  trying not to pay attorney for services not needed.  I have lost confidence in his ability to be impartial since firm also represented the taxi driver and settled favorably back in 2009.

Answer
Hi Vanessa,

This is difficult to answer. Whether or not you can release the attorney will depend on the terms of the contract you sign. You will need ot read the specifics of the contract you signed with the attorney to determine what he is entitled to in the event you cancell the contract. That is the only place you will get an appropriate answer to your questions. Read the contract. If you do not understand the contract, you can ask the attorney himself or you can hire another attorney to tell you what the contract says.

I hope this helps
