Auto Insurance Claims: is total loss?, insurance administration, state of maryland

Question
I was involved in an accident in May 28, 2012 (state of Maryland) where I was Hit and run accident on the driver side. I have filed a claim through insurance. since may 28 my car been in the body shop because one part is on national back order and there no lead time for that part but my question is the work they put on my cars now is 7130.00 and the values of my car is 9810.00 is that considerate total loss and if it is what can i do for the insurance to pay for the car or i have to wait now for them to repair or not please let me know

Answer
In MD, a vehicle must be declared a total loss if the repairs exceed 75% of the value.  It appears you are at 72%.  If the repairs will cost any more, or if the value is slightly lower than 9810, then it could be a total loss.  If this is what you want, I'd recommend complaining to the MD Insurance Administration as they may be able to assist.
