Auto Insurance Claims: who pays deductible, auto theft siu claim investigation euo denial expert, forensic ignition consultant

Question
My daughters car was legally parked and unoccupied on a Brighton, Ma street today and was hit by a U-haul truck.
She was told by her insurance company to bring the car to the repair shop and once the repairs are made to pay the repair shop her deductible. Then she will be reimbursed once they settle with the other insurance company.

Why she should have to pay anything?
I have never had to pay when someone else hit my car.
My insurance company always sends an appraiser out to my car or I bring it to any independent appraiser and then to a body shop that agrees to do the repairs for the appraisal amount or they contact my insurance company if there is a problem.

Is she being given bad information?
Thank you

Answer
Hi,

She has to pay the deductible and she is reimbursed. This is in your policy and your agent can show it to you. You accidents were different. You were in the car. Different situation. Her car was parked and unattended.

It would be nice if agents would explain all this when they take your money. The agent never even offered you an endorsement either did they? Not that you need one, but endorsement covers after market non factory installed components like that in a custom van. We repaired so many stolen custom vans and the owner would be pissed to find none of the seats, wheels, stereo, tv, custom paint was covered! Sad thing, had the insured known, the endorsement to cover every thing would have been about $50.00!

Who did the owner take it out on? Us!!!

Agents are quick take money and if you have no agent, that really sucks. I would suggest you read your (or her's) policy in its entireity and write down what you don't underrstand. The get your agent or a rep for the ccompany to answer your questions. That way, there are no surprises in the future.

Good luck.
