Auto Insurance Claims: His or Mine, insurance company, premiums

Question
I was involved in an accident that was not my fault.  My insurance company offered to take care of everything, however I will have to pay the deductible.  My question is if I file a claim with my insurance company, will this result in a raise in my premium even though the accident was not my fault?  Dont know if it matters but, my insurance company is AAA and his is Farmers.

Answer
Hi Brad,

Going through your insurance company will not affect your premiums as long as you are not at fault for the accident.  Your insurance company will go after Farmers to get reimbursed. They will also seek reimbursement of your deductible. When your company receives payment they will reimburse you for your deductible.

It is also possible that you could contact Farmers and ask them to advance you your deductible. Sometimes they will and sometimes they wont. But you could ask.

I hope this helps
