Auto Insurance Claims: damage by a bicycle, bicycle today, due caution

Question
Hi,  I am really confuse here on my situation.  I got hit by a bicycle today and had a long scratch on my passenger door.
First, there is a car park on the side street and the driver opened the door and hit the biker.  The biker then lost balance and fell and damaged my car.
All three of us went to police station and the cop said that the biker is responsible for my car damage, but since biker is not require to have insurance in Illinois, I will need to sue the biker personally for my damages.
I have full-cover insurance and not sure what to do.  Do I need to sue the biker myself?  Or my insurance company should take care of this?

Answer
Hi Ben,
This is a case where I have to disagree with the police officer.
The parked driver that opened his door without due caution, hit the bike and caused the bike to hit you is entirely at fault for all damages.
Make a report to your own insurance company and let them deal with the issue.

I hope you find this information to be helpful.
Your feedback by rating my answer will be appreciated.
