Auto Insurance Claims: Help!, motorcycle policy, car insurance company

Question
My husband totaled his motorcycle.  The car in front of him slammed on the breaks causing him to slam on the breaks and crash his motorcycle.  The other vehicle did not stop and my husband did not file a police report.  The car insurance company will not pay our claim since we did not file a report and the police say it is too late to file a report.  Can the insurance deny our claim based on this?

Answer
Hi Mary,
In order to attempt to assist you in this matter, I need more information.
Please provide me with the date of the accident, the date that your husband tried to make an insurance report and the date that he tried to make a police report.

You state that the CAR insurance company will not honor your claim.
I have never seen a situation where a motorcycle was insured on a car policy.  The legal wording in a car policy describes an insured vehicle as a motorized four wheel land vehicle.  Motorcycles are commonly insured on a separate motorcycle policy.  Please explain.

I will respond as soon as I get the additional information.
