Auto Insurance Claims: Auto Insurance Name Insured, insurance name, individual insurance

Question
If two people are married to each other, will they automatically be listed under the list of "Named Insured" or "Insured Named" regardless of who is registered with the car and who owns it.
Also,

Is it possible for two brothers to be under the "Named (or Names) Insured" list on a car insurance statement or any paper relating to car insurance. Can two brothers be insured together? It might have said Insured Named and not Named Insured...does that make a difference?

Answer
Hi Kristen,

In the case of a husband & wife, generally one of them will take out the policy and the other will be listed on the policy as an additional driver. In either case usually a husband & wife are considered to be one. However both must be listed on the policy either as the named insured or as an additional driver.

As for brothers, each insurance company will have their own guidelines on this. If they will be allowed on the same policy they would both have to reside in the same household. But, you would have to ask the individual insurance company if they will allow this.

I hope this helps
