Auto Insurance Claims: loss of wages, chevy corsica, gmc suburban

Question
My boyfriend's plow truck, a 1986 GMC suburban with a LEO plow, was parked legally in front of our house.  It was hit by a chevy corsica who was speeding and totaled the vehicle - the left rear of the vehicle was hit pretty bad and it did major damage to the frame and left side of the vehicle (the rear axel is now in the middle of the truck).  The driver of the car who hit his truck did not have a valid driver's license but luckily the owner of the car had insurance.  The insurance company has not settled with my boyfriend yet and my question is whether or not he can claim lost wages.  Since his suburban was hit, he has been without a vehicle and it has snowed three times (we live in MN).  There is no place that we know of to "rent" a plow truck, is he eligible to receive some sort of lost wages?  He works for another person who was able to do the work without him but normally he would have been working and been paid.

Answer
Hi Sarah,

Generally you are entitled to collect lost wages. However the burden of proof is on your boyfriend. He will have to get a letter from his employer showing the days that he missed work and how much he would have made.

I hope this helps
