Auto Insurance Claims: new car replacement, policy provision, car replacement

Question
I was recently involved in a one car accident and my 2007 car was totaled.  I have a new car replacement waiver on my insurance.  I wanted to know if I have to buy the exact same model of car? and how long do I have to buy it i.e. can I wait a few months for the new model year to come out?

Answer
Hi Sam,

The vehicle replacement section of your policy is where the terms of that provision are found. Each company that offers this type of provision has their own rules and regulation on how it works. So you will have to read the policy provision that covers the vehicle replacement. Another option would be to ask the claims adjuster at your insurance company how it works.

I hope this helps
