Auto Insurance Claims: not at fault auto insurance claim, auto insurance claim, storage charge

Question
i recently had a crash that was determined 100% the other parties fault.  my car was totaled and towed away from the site.  i couldn't choose the location of the tow. since the accident happened on a friday night i couldn't retrieve my car until monday.  the cost was too high for me to pay to get my vehicle out.  it's been a month and the car is still there.  i can pay for the cost for the last month and get the car, ($1,400) or pay $360 to let them keep it.  my question is, does the other insurance have to cover the cost of that? being a total loss and all.

Answer
Hi Derek,

The insurance company will be responsible for at least some of the storage charge and te towing. You need to contact the insurance company immediately and tell them that your car is still in storage because you can not afford to pay the bill. They should be ready to settle up with you on the claim. You need to call them before you consider selling the car to the tow yard because the insurance company will make a deduction to your settlement if they can;t puck up the car and sell it.

I hope this helps
