Auto Insurance Claims: Auto insurance not paying asked amount for topper, bed topper, insurance company

Question
Hello,
I was rear ended in my truck, and the bed topper was cracked beyond repair.  My est was for 1475, the other vehicle's insurance company est was 1595, this isn't included installation.
The other vehicle's insurance company at first, just wanted to give me 145, now after talking with them, less then 50%.  I feel this is not enough, am I wrong?...What are my rights?
I understand insurance companies have to protect there interest, however my est was less then theirs.

Any information, would be much appreciated.
Thank You

Answer
The major question here is how old was the bed topper?  If it was new, then they should pay you more.  However, if it was more than 3 years old then they look at it if they could find that part used and what they would have to pay for it.  So, it really comes down to how old the bed topper was and the shape it was in.  They look at wear and tear, age, etc. when they give you an estimate.  However, on the installation part of it, I would tell them a separate estimate for that because that should not be included with the bed topper because it is a separate thing.  For example, you could buy it from one person and have another install it.  Always should your labor separate from the parts.
Good luck!
