Auto Insurance Claims: who is at fault, parking lot accident, legal obligation

Question
Parking lot accident.
My son was pulling into a parking space (he was 2 feet from the curb and almost stopped) when the woman next to him flung open her door, leaving a large dent and destroying the handle on the passenger door ($1600 damage).  Her insurance was ready to pay after looking at the photos but now she is claiming that my son hit her door.  Our insurance is now involved and we're waiting for them to send out their claims adjuster.  I'm wondering if the photos showing no damage to his front fender, only the door, will prove that she hit him and not visa versa.  Thanks for your opinion....

Answer
Hi Sue,
The person that opened their door had a legal obligation to check for cars entering the parking spot beside her before opening her door.
In my opinion, the location of the damage and the photos will be quiet adequate to show that your son was not at fault and force the adverse company to make the proper payment.
I hope this information has been of help.  Please write again If I  can be of assistance.
