Auto Insurance Claims: No Insurance and car was stolen, finance company, unfortunate situation

Question
I purchased a car 4 months ago and it was stolen recently.  My insurance expired a little over a month ago according to my ex girlfriend who had both her vehicle and mine under her insurance.  Since our breakup she allowed the insurance to expire without informing me.  Therefore, I had no insurance at the time of the theft.  What am I to do?

Answer
Hi Los,

This is a very unfortunate situation. Since there is no insurance on the car there will be no payment from the insurance company. You will still have to pay the finance company for the car.

You can hope that the police find your car in fairly good condition and return it to you. If there is any damage to the car you will have to pay to fix it yourself. You should contact your finance company to see what can be worked out.

I hope this helps
