Auto Insurance Claims: Car stolen but dont have comprehensive, uninsured motorist coverage, car stolen

Question
Hi, my car was stolen tonight, and I filed a police report. I only have the basic liability insurance plus uninsured motorist coverage. Unfortunately, I don't have the comprehensive coverage.
My question is this. Is there even a point of calling my insurance company about my stolen car? Is there anything they can do or help me out in any way?
I'm not sure if I should call them since I'm worried about the rates going up because my car was stolen while receiving no help.
By the way, I have GEICO.

Thanks,

Jay

Answer
Hi Jay,

No. If you have no coverage there is no point in reporting it because they will not do anything to help you. If this is the only car you have on the policy, you may want to call to cancell the policy so you do not have to continue to pay premiums. If you are going to replace the car quickly then don't bother. Just call them with the new car info to change vehicles on the policy.

I hope this helps
