Auto Insurance Claims: auto accident, collision coverage, careless driving

Question
My 24yr old daughter totaled her car(rear ended another driver - her coverage does not list collision.  Florida is a no-fault state - she was ticketed for careless driving.  Will she receive anything for her 2004 Pontiac - she suffered minor injuries.  She carried BI - UM - PIP is her car covered?

Answer
Hi Ruth,

In Florida, no fault only refers to injuries. That means that regardless of fault you would look to your own policy for the first $10,000.00 in medical expenses. It has nothing to do with vehicle damage. If she does not have collision coverage, there well not be any payment for the car.

I hope this helps
