Auto Insurance Claims: valet accident, valet company, collision company

Question
my car was in the care of a restaurant contracted valet company.  it was returned with $3000 damages.  the valet company's insurance adjuster verbally authorized the repairs to the collision company.  now they are refusing to pay the claim, saying it's not their fault. how do we get this covered?  it's surely not MY fault!

Answer
Hi Risa,

If the valet driver damaged your car while driving then he is at fault. If your car was hit by someone else while it was parked then they are not. You will need to determine the exact facts of how the damage occured. To make things go faster, you may want to make a claim against your own insurance policy. They will then investigate to see if there is anyone to pursue reimbursement from.

I hope this helps
