Auto Insurance Claims: i rear end car, claim bonus, paint repair

Question
Hey,
A few days ago i rear ended a wrx whilst it braked hard on a "fresh" yellow light, only minor damage to his rear bumper, such as paint, i was worse of in the crash as his huge exhaust cracked the plastic grill that i have on my pulsar. i gave him my phone number name and drivers license number. so the question is, can he find my insurance company with those details?, because i want him to call me first because i dont want to lose my no claim bonus due to a couple hundred dollar paint repair that i could pay myself to him.
Also, would my dad lose his no claim bonus as well since he gave my insurance  the initial no-claim bonus?, and i have full comp.

Answer
Hi Nathan,
Depending on your state of residence, if he reports this to his own insurance company, they will probably find your company.
The bad part about trying to handle the claim yourself is that the other party could come back 10 months later with a documented injury claim, which your company would have every legal right to deny due to the fact that you failed to notify them of the accident and the entire injury claim would come out of your pocket.
Any discount loss will only affect you.  In my opinion, you should report this to your company and let them handle the loss.
Sincerely,
Bennie
