Auto Insurance Claims: sttlement claim, loss settlement, insurance company

Question
I had my vechichle stolen. I received a total loss settlement claim. The vehichle was recovered the day the settlement was to be payed to me. Now my insurance company says i have to take the vechichle back after they fix it. I am in california. Can the insurance company rescind their settlement, and is there anything I can do to get the money offered..?

Answer
Hi Claudiu-

The insurance pays for your financial loss.  Since your financial loss has changed, so is the amount the insurance is obligated to pay.  What you are essentially asking is for your insurance company to buy your car.
Sorry it doesn't work that way.
The good news is that you are going to have a car that will be repaired to its new condition.  Maybe you can sell it for the difference and come out the same.

Good Luck
