Auto Insurance Claims: Teen Question, immediate family members, breaking the law

Question
I live in Washington state.  In Washington a new driver can only drive him/her self and immediate family members for 6 months after getting their license.  My question, if a teen is in an accident during the 1st 6 months and is found to have a non family member in the car with them, will the insurance policy still pay, or could they deny it because the teen was knowlingly breaking the law?

Answer
Hi D,

The insurance should still pay the claim. However, if there was a police report that showed that a non family member was in the car at the time of the accident, you may face a fine or possible suspension of your license.

I hope this helps
