Auto Insurance Claims: its been a month after a minor accident, toyota camry, minor accident

Question
Its been a month after a minor accident, im not sure who was at fault but we reversed into each other and she claimed i was at fault, there was no damage on my car, but a small dent on her 93 toyota camry rear bumper. she called just a month later, estimating the damages are $975. And we never filed a police report, we gave each other our information.

Here's my question, can she do anything after 1 month? or am i Liable to paying the damages

Answer
Hi Dlopez-

Yes, she has up to two years I believe.  If you have not yet reported it to your company, you should do so immediately.

The adjuster will take statements from both of you and then look at the two cars and then determine who is at fault. If they agree that you backed into each other and both of you are equally at fault, then your insurance company will cover your damages and hers will cover her damages and it will not be a chargable accident which means your rates should not go up.

If you are found at fault then your insurance company would pay out for property damage under liability for the other car and collision coverage for yours (less any applicable deductible) and you will most likely see a nice increase at your next renewal.

Hope this helps.
